TRUE Single Line Text - Now in Lightburn!!

LightBurn 2.0 Just Made a Huge Leap — It Now Supports Single Line Fonts' OPF Fonts for TRUE Single Line Text!

I’ve been dreaming of this for a long time — and it’s finally here.

With the release of LightBurn 2.0, the software now offers native support for TRUE single line fonts using my exclusive OPF font format. This is a huge, long-awaited breakthrough that’s going to transform how laser users design and engrave text.

Why This Matters

Until now, LightBurn could only use the TTF version of my fonts. While it technically worked, the software would trace each stroke twice in the exact same spot — causing longer engraving times and sometimes heavier burns.

Now, with OPF support, LightBurn finally renders text as it was meant to be:
✔️ One clean pass with your laser
✔️ No outlines or double lines
✔️ No converting to paths
✔️ Perfectly clean, professional results — fast

This is a game-changer for anyone engraving text on wood, metal, acrylic, leather, glass, and more.

What’s OPF?

OPF stands for Open Path Font — a special stroke-based format I created specifically for machines that follow lines instead of filling shapes. Unlike standard fonts, OPF fonts are built as open paths, making them perfect for:

  • Laser engraving
  • CNC scoring
  • Pen plotting
  • Paper crafting

For years, only a couple of scrapbook programs could render OPF correctly. Now with LightBurn 2.0, laser users can finally take full advantage of them — directly inside the software.

How to Use OPF Fonts in LightBurn

Every font you purchase from Single Line Fonts includes an OPF version. Here’s how to start using them in LightBurn:

  1. Locate the OPF font file in your font download (look for names starting with SLF-OPF).
  2. Install the OPF font on your computer:
    • Windows: Copy the file into your C:\Windows\Fonts folder.
    • Mac: Drag the file into Font Book.
  3. Restart LightBurn.
  4. Create a text field in your project.
  5. From the font dropdown, select your OPF font (beginning with SLF-OPF).
  6. Engrave with true single line precision — no extra steps needed.

Every One of My Fonts Includes OPF

I’ve created a growing collection of 59 single line fonts, and each one comes with an OPF version ready for LightBurn.

From charming handwritten scripts to bold sans serifs, there’s something for every project. Each font download includes:

  • A standard version (TTF/OTF) for general use
  • An OPF version for true stroke-based rendering in LightBurn and other OPF-friendly apps
  • A thickened version for word processors and printing
  • A FontLab Pad version
